Was this a coincidence or an alien visitation?

Four days ago, I couldn't sleep, and at 12:17 in the morning (I had looked at the clock to see how late I was up) I finally just opened my eyes and stared straight ahead of me, at the slits of lights under my blinds. All of a sudden, what light I could see turned dramatically brighter. I thought it was lightning, but it stayed like that. All of a sudden, about a fourth of my window became darker than it had been before. The remaining light began changing intensities, and another shadow appeared-the shape of a head and neck, much like how you'd see the top portion of E.T. It moved at about the pace of a human walking, and stopped at the middle of my window. It stayed there, as if staring in, even though it was only a shadow on the blinds. Finally, it %26quot;walked%26quot; towards the part of my window in shadow. The bright light became suddenly dim, and then nothing more. The fourth of my window was still in shadow. I regained control of myself, and walked to the window, opening up the blinds. In the sky I noticed what I thought was a plane, but a strange one if it was. Its faint shadow was more circular than plane-shaped, and lights flashed two at the back, one at the front on the bottom of the craft. The craft didn't fly like a plane either-it had a slightly curved path that just didn't seem right.

I have already told the whole story to a friend, who also believes I may have seen aliens. What do you think? And if I might have, what should I do?

This is completely serious. :) I love the paranormal, but this just freaked me out.
Was this a coincidence or an alien visitation?
+I believe that you were probably dreaming. Everyone has had the experience where a dream is SO REAL that you mistake it for reality.
Was this a coincidence or an alien visitation?
Sounds like the changing light and shadow of a car's headlights.
Neither. Probably a hypnagogic hallucination, %26quot;a dream while awake%26quot;.
Since no aliens are visiting Earth I have to say it could not have been an alien visitation.

So what do I think it was? Some distorted view of reality caused by not enough sleep.
Please bear with me and read my story:

I opened my eyes in the middle of the night a couple years ago. My room is very dark but it is barely possible to make out some extremely low contrast shapes. One dark shadow which at first I thought was on the far side of the room, actually turned out to be on the bed next to me where my wife used to sleep before her death. I couldn't tell if it was some clothes I left there or what.

Then I was startled somewhat to see it move! With some amusement, I realized that it was my cat. Now I could make out the shape of his head and shoulders. It looked like he was licking around his neck. He does that a lot. I said, %26quot;Hey, you booger, how did you get in here? I thought the door was closed.%26quot; I figured he must have been hiding out in there since before I went to bed. He had a few interesting tricks and it looked like he had just added another one.

I clearly remember smiling and reaching out to pet him. Then something interesting happened. My hand went right through him and his dark form evaporated. I actually chuckled because I realized this meant I was asleep. I woke up with some effort, turned the lights on and shook my head, marveling as I had on some previous occasions, at that wonderful and sometimes bewildering organ inside my skull.

Moral of the story. NEVER trust any memory which is associated with bed or sleeping. No matter how real it seems, it was almost certainly a dream. One night I had a disturbing series of nightmares where I woke up with relief only to discover I was still having a nightmare. I thought I woke up a total of FIVE times. One of those times I even went out to the kitchen for a glass of milk, but even that turned out to be a dream.
If I were you I would go to a sleep lab. Most experiences that have to do with alien visitation can be explained with a condition called REM sleep paralysis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paral鈥?/a> http://www.csicop.org/doubtandabout/slee鈥?/a>

But in your case you actually got up and walked. So there can only 2 possibilities. 1. You are suffering from some weird sleep disorder or 2. You have simply misinterpreted information as often happens when you are tired (especially when its dark out, our brain often make educated guesses as to what we're actually seeing when we can't see the whole picture). The latter explanation is most likely the case since the simplest explanation is often true. But either way I would consult a doctor if I was experiencing hallucinations. As far as aliens go, they would have to have traveled for thousands of years in order to have gotten to earth. After that they would probably announce their presence to world leaders instead of scaring people like you. Consult a doctor, and don't believe in aliens on earth until they land at the headquarters of the UN.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug. Get yourself to a clinic.
I'd suggest getting a consultation with a doctor ASAP and asking for a referral to a psychiatric specialist. Hallucinations are a very serious symptom, and may indicate the onset of a psychotic condition.

Be calmed by the fact that modern medicine can alleviate these conditions.

Good Luck!
