Low oil light on Honda Prelude flickers...?

Details... 1995 Honda Prelude 2.3 stick with around 194k miles...

Low oil level light flickers when car is at idle below 1000 rpm, oil level low the other day, so added oil to bring it up, and yet still flickers, dimly at low idle. there is noticable oil leakage around head... wondering if this is a bad gasket due to how far up on the engine it is. any help will be great as i cannot afford to get it in the shop for a week or so.... car runs fine otherwise and has not given me trouble ever.... hoping its a bad gasket and wont be too costly.... i did have an oil and filter change within the last 1000 miles....please help with info!

Sounds like a sensor to me .I also imagine that it is a valve cover gasket leaking. You did not say how many miles on car or condition, but I think I would at first opportunity buy a mechanical oil pressure guage to see what kind of oil pressure you are running and get rid of idiot lite.It will tell you if you have bad mains or a bad pump or if you need to sell.

Good Luck

Replace the oil pressure switch first, cheap to try and more likely.
cam end plug is a very common oil leak on these, change oil pressure switch also for flickering light.
