How do you deal with people who always try to put you in a negative light?

there's situations in my life when no matter what good i endeavour to do or good deeds or honourable acts - there's always the type of people that attempt to put a negative slant on it , or they try to influence others to see me in a negative light.



this frustrates me, but i realise there's nothing you can do with idiots.



i move on, but i always seem to encounter these types again and again in all walks of life.



how should i respond ?



not change the good endeavours i try to do and ignore them ? easier said than done though eh ?



iam reserved and quiet but still aim to better my situation and be civil to people and try to have a positive attitude - but there are those who make this very difficult.



any ideas apart from smashing them over the head with a heavy blunt object ?

that sucks. sorry to hear that. hang around those few (even if it's one or two) who put you in a positive light or who aren't shallow enough to believe the gossiper or negative folks. remain pleasant to all-- otherwise it will make you appear as those idiots say.



be polite, remain pleasant and calm. confront these people if it continues or if they are flat-out lying about you. otherwise, just continue to be nice and respectable. the more you are nice to others, the less likely people will believe the gossipers.
