If you had to choose between freedom of religion, or making US a Christian Nation.. which would you?

Easy choice... and in light of fundamental extremists hijacking California's election to pass Prop. 8, the question remains. What are the real goals of the fundamentalist extremist right? Which would you pick, freedom of religion, or a Christian nation ruled by the Church Heads?

Some changes they may make to the country?

1. Outlawing divorce

2. Outlawing being gay (treatment centers/camps)

3. Making every war we can to capture the middle east and Christianizing it

4. Witch burnings

5. Outlawing any religion other than the dominant major Christian heads.

It is a question.. but I have an opinion. Once you start down the slippery slop of letting religions choose government, we end up with many many many more problems than it solves.

Religion is a unilateral thing. There can be only 1 right religion, which means after the choses churches battle to grab power shares, then they turn on eachother. Eventually, only one specific religion would rule... and everyone not following their doctrine...

Ok, let's sum it up here. STOP LETTING CHURCHES TELL YOU HOW TO VOTE. There isn't another New World we can sail to to prevent persecution.

I believe in freedom of religion and separation of church and state.

Finally, someone with common sense.

Religion is the most dangerous, and biggest scam known to man kind.
This is a pretty simple answer: freedom of religion. Christianity is okay in the sense that being agnostic is okay, being Muslim is okay, and being Hindu is okay. What is important is to recognize the importance of embracing our differences and encouraging consensus. The only way that can be done is through a secular democracy...religion should be removed from public life once and for all.

Obviously, this is not what the Jerry Falwells and the Hell House pushers want us to believe, but this country will tear itself apart if we become as God-fearing as they would like us to be.

On a side note, according to some fundies, Falwell is probably in Heaven. With that said, I would rather burn in hell then spend time with that douche.

IN FACT, if heaven is full of people like Falwell and other fundies, then that sort of heaven for me would be a version of hell...definitely gives me something to think about!
Religious freedom.
freedom of religious...
Yes, i do like it the way it is now, for sure! Real fundamentalists actually do have dreams of theocracy in this country. They don't even read their own literature that says to cooperate fully with their government. However, there is a tiny little mistake in your list. Fundies do not want to capture the middle east and Christianize it. They support the current Jewish government FULLY because they want them to retain control in the region. They say that Armageddon will happen there and that Christ's army will kill all of them off when it comes to that. It's right there in the Bible. The Jews will be destroyed when Christ returns. So they have to be in control now (and until Armageddon) due to prophecies in the big book.
%26quot;fundamental extremists hijacking California's election to pass Prop. 8%26quot; how about hijacking Yahoo Answers to post political rhetoric in the form of a fake question?

Some people actually believe in the literal palpable existence of God, and some people also believe that the Church they attend was created by and is under direct supervision of God. A person with your views MAY find such beliefs ridiculous and mindless, but THEY obviously find some others belief incorrect to have voted for prop 8. I do not have a religion or church I perscribe to, but I feel that voting for Californias prop 8 is a more logical course of action for the societal health of this country than voting against it. I believe you would really like there to be a sinister control behind the passing of prop 8, but with the number of people I've talked to that support it and hearing their reasons, I am forced to draw the conclusion that those that wanted prop 8 to pass were in the majority. Just because you do not understand a persons decision to vote for prop 8 does not mean they must have been influenced or controlled in any way. I would suggest you try and be more open minded to the intents of peoples actions.
Rather move out of country!
To all frist we need to know why we were created, read it's in the monothiest teachings ,not the polythiest teaching , Hear O'iREAL YOUR LORD IS ONE LORD, Meaning that His Lordship, worship, and names and attributes are for Him alone,
