Using an electrical motor to make a ceramic camel head spit?

basically i'm making this big camels head, pretty close to life size, and i want to make it %26quot;spit.%26quot; i DON%26quot;T want a continuous flow of water. i'm also being pretty picky, and i don't want it to %26quot;spit%26quot; as rapidly as a sprinkler thing, you know, the tst-tst-tst-tst kind :p i'm trying to see if theres a way to hook the pump up to an interruptor so it turns on and off? a couple people in my class have mentioned using christmas lights, the kind that has a control to change it from solid to blinking, but i don't think that would work, or at least HOW it would work???

Answer depends on your budget, I'm going to assume its pretty limited

If you have access to a city water type spout it will be much easier.

I'll give you two driections

1) Hook up a constant supply source like a city water tap, to this put a momentary type valve, like a hand spray nozzle with a trigger for your garden hose. Fix this trigger device to a board with the trigger exposed. Now you will need a slow motor of some kind, maybe an old eelectric can opener. Attach an arm to the motor which, on each revolution pushes down on the trigger, giving a spurt. You could do this with a weight that goes up and down as well. The motor will need to be a slow one, you can buy slow gear motors but they can be pricey, look for something around the house or at a thrift store

2) Ok, this one we will use a pump, lets use a small water pump (like for a fishtank or fountain. You just hook up its intake to a container of the fluid and the output to the mouth. Now, how to trigger it. Using the x-mas lights that blink may actually work, you would need to get the kind with a female plug on one end and plug the thing into it. Might get into an issue with current though. This time of the year they also sell indoor and oudoor power strips or %26quot;posts%26quot; that have some of the timing functions on them, they will be $ though, look around. You might find some cheap plug in thing that does it. If you can't find any of these I guess you could always make it manual, just a switch on a powerstrip that someone turns on and off.

What's this for? Halloween?

Can you rig a water pistol to a solenoid that would pull the trigger on the water pistol? Then you would need a to apply power to the solenoid every time you want it to spit.
