My head lamps don't seem to be lighting the road as well as they used to. Suggestions?

I have a 2000 Toyota Echo. When I first got it, I was impressed by how well the head lamps lighted the road. But I've noticed over the past several months that my head lamps don't seem to be lighting the road as well as they used to. What could be the cause? I have changed the bulbs in the past year; could it be the type/quality of bulb?

A few things could affect that.

1 The new bulbs you installed could be dimmer.

2 the lenses may be getting dirty and hindering the light.

3 the lenses may be not pointing exactly where they are supposed to be.

or a combination of the above.

Try cleaning the lenses thoroughly first, since that is the cheapest.

then try to find brighter bulbs if that didn't help.

then try getting them aligned properly at a shop if they are still not as they should be.

make sure they are clean, then maybe put in some halogen bulbs, ask someone at an auto parts store what would be right for your car.
It might sound silly, but is the glass clean? Otherwise, I'd try different bulbs or maybe have the battery checked.
As others have said it may be that the lenses are not clean or that they are out of alignment. To check the alignment park up next to a garage or brick wall and get out with the lights on and see where they are pointing too. I am not sure where to get them aligned or if it can be done on your own I would check with an auto parts store.
Glasses ? :-%26gt; Check the grounds on the Headlights - Check the amount of VOLTAGE U have going 2 the lights - Should B just over 14 Volts - same as @ the Battery..They make METERS that measure the CANDLEPOWER of your lights..Have the battery LOAD tested NOT just a Voltage Check !
Road film on the outside of your lenses. They make a polishing kit to clear them up.

I'd say your charging system is failing. It may be the battery. Batteries only last 4 - 5 years. Get it checked at your local auto parts store, they'll do it for free. Hope that helps.
Could be that road conditions have vibrated them out of allignment. It's a simply adjustment to get them back on track.

Out of all the years changeing them just now noticeing some problems get your eyes checked out first most lights on a car / truck /van normaly dont need to be changed every year basicly every 4-5 years
