I have an EpsonC40 UX, power light and ink/paper light flash continously, printer has ink/paper how to reset?

In the middle of a print job last night with epson stylus color C40UX

when the printer stopped abruptly the print head shifted all the way to the right, and the power light flashed on and off, and the ink/paper(error) light flashes on and off continously. This makes changing ink difficult since the print head is set to the extreme right.

I have tried rebooting the system/Powering down%26amp;then up on the

printer, and unplugging the printer from power source.Nothing seems to reset the printer. The computer sees the printer fine,

Im wondering if installing and uninstalling the printer would help.

Any input from anyone would help. Don't have the cash for

new printer at the moment.

Many Thanks

John

This is their cheapest model and cant sustain from over usage. The red/green lights flashing alternatively usually means the well at the back of the printer is full. This well collects all the ink that overflows when you use your printer. The well contains pads that soaks up the ink. You can undo the printer and clean out the well and drain the pads off, but this a messy job and does not necassary mean it will be okay after you have done this.

If it is less than 3 months old you need to phone Epson, and they will deliver you a new printer free of charge.

My advice is throw the thing away and purchase one of their better models like the R200 - R320, these printers are better models if you use a printer a lot.

I had similar problems with my Epson and was recommended to download this fantastic utility http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

I reset counters and other bits and bobs and it works like a treat.
Clean the ink well at the back
