How to i remove rusted screws?

i have to change a light in my car above my license plate because one of them went out i have two lights well i went to replace the light and i noticed that 3 out of the 4 screws were rusted so i couldnt fit the phillips head screw driver into the slot where its supposed to go to remove the screw how do i remove the rusted screws with out breaking them?
How to i remove rusted screws?
you can use your phillips screwdriver, line up your slots take a small hammer and gently tap the handle on your screwdriver to tap it into screw head. If this don't work see if you can get a small pair of vise grips on the head of screw. if the screws are to rusted you may have to cut them or drill them out. If you can get to the threaded part of the screws try using some penetrating oil and spray on threads, let sit a day or two and try to break them loose then . good luck, hope this helps you somewhat.

soak them with wd oil and you should be able to get them out.
spray them with WD-40. you may have to do it a few times and hope that it sinks into the threads.
spray WD40 GENEROUSLY, then wait, then give it a turn with pliers or vice grips if you can't find a larger screwdriver to fit the presumably rust-eroded philips head
Soak the screw with WD-40. If you can let it sit for several hours. Them try to loosen it. It it does not work go to your local hardware store and see if you can get an easy out kit. You may need to drill it out.
WD 40 and wire brush them, open up the slots for the screw driver,if that dont work, you're gonna have to drill them out.
Soak them in penetrating oil (like WD40, LPS3, Liquid Wrench, etc).

Use a new Phillips bit or a new Phillips screw driver. The best tool to use is a speed handle with an APEX Phillips bit.

Put some valve grind compound on the bit and in the head of the screw. This keeps the bit from slipping.

If none of these work, drill the screws and use an easy out to extract them.

Use stainless steel or cadmium plated screws in the future.
If WD40 doesn't work, Coca Cola probably will. It was the rusty screw remover of choice for many years before WD40 was invented.
Drill them out or try a screw extractor. You may have to replace with slightly larger screws or replace the speed clips that the screws go into.
You need a hammer and your philips screwdriver.

Put the screwdriver into the screw and gently tap

the end of the screwdriver with your hammer.Next,

Turn the screwdriver as if you are tightening the screw

whilst gently tapping the end of the screwdriver with you

hammer. Now do the same thing in the opposite direction.

Once you have got the screws out i suggest you replace

them with stainless steel ones and put a small amount of

lithium based grease on the threads to prevent them from

seizing up.

WD 40 does not loosen rusted in screws it is only a thin

lubricant oil.
