Is it legal for vehicles straddle a light controlled pedestrian crossing?

is it right that a vehicle with or with out trailer can legaly straddle a pelican crossing? even if theres traffic as i have to regularly put up with this. I was told by my county police switchboard that they can. How ever the law might have changed, for when i passed my test you had to wait at the solid white line till it was clear a head. and if this is the case how are the blind supposed to tell the vehicle is there?

It is illegal under the crossing regs and also constitutes obstruction of the highway.

NO
I don't know what the law today is, but it is good driving practice not to drive onto a Pelican or Zebra unless there is sufficient room on the opposite side to enable your vehicle (and trailing load) to clear the crossing.
No. There is no way it should happen .. if you're in a queue you're supposed to wait until the gap at the other side of the crossing is big enough to take your vehicle. If you find the lights change and you can't stop in time then you were speeding anyway.

Either way you'll get the point (s)
Absolutely not. Do that within sight of the law and you'll really be in trouble.
No .. it is not legal.
It is illegal but using a blind person (like my sister) is a poor excuse, as there are lots of example of what is considered blind.

Normally there guide dog would walk around any obstacle and a stick would warn them when it hit the wheel.

By all means moan but stop using blind people to get your point across.
