My SO wants to get this light therapy, but we are both just wondering does it work as well as we hear? this question is for those who use it. looking up in the internet...the symptoms listed is pretty much what i have...very very very tired...i seem to want to mainly eat cookies with the cream filling. chocolate. thoughts run through my head (none so far suicidal) (hopefully never) sometimes i don't think my SO cares at all for me or anything...i feel so lonely..just depressed...i also seem to get upsetting dreams lately...for the past three sleeps i had dreams with the depressed emotion, i wake up with a knot in my throat like i am about to cry...i also seem to gain more weight neither SO or I like the fact that i am...( i am running out of clothes to wear) weird part is i don't exactly like to shop at the mall. but have to now for outing wear to extended family xmas parties. my neck is now sore i kinda think that it is either slept REALLY wrong on the love seat (the only couch we have) or just really stressed over all this...
sorry for making this so long and boring all for a possibly pointless question..
does light therapy really work? what kind do you suggest is the best? i am not sure if i want a little one...also to point out i also have a 2 and a half year old i am a little worried if she looks at the light since it will be the new thing in the house. i don't think i would mind, i could just use it early in the morning since this is the time i wake up most of the time..like 3-4 in the morning...3-4 hours later she will wake up to watch her Dora...sorry for taking up most of your time reading this...i just dont want to be depressed anymore all around the same time of the year...i am scared of thinking of suicid again...i cant put my daughter through that...right now i am not...
SAD---just wondering how much of a change when you use light therapy?
I got four %26quot;daylight%26quot; CFL (Compact Fluorescent) light bulbs from bulbtown.com, I got the highest wattage they have (which is still a lot less than a regular bulb) and have them on the ceiling of the room I spend the most time in. It really lights up the room! During the dark cold months of Winter it really does a lot to help keep me cheered up. That's a very economical solution too!

Some people swear by light therapy and say it has changed their lives. It doesn't hurt to try. But if it doesn't help, then see another
mental health professional.
